On Saturday the 5th of December, a dream of a special group came true through the launching of the first part of the “Religious signs guide” at the UCIP 2015 exhibition. This guide allows those with hearing disabilities to join the church in worship by teaching Christian hymns in sign language. This guide, which is accompanied with a DVD of the book of Luke in sign language, contains more than 30 Arabic Christian hymns of which are divided into categories such as praise, worship and meditation, Holy Spirit and others.
The advisor of the deaf community in Lebanon, Father Jean-Marie Chami, has big hopes for this project as he believes that it fulfills the prophecy of the prophet Isiah that says that the deaf will hear the word of God.
Partners in the making of this book and DVD: Bible Society Lebanon, L’Ecoute, Sat7 and Aumônerie pour Personnes sourdes.
