On Tuesday 25 April, representatives from the Armenian Orthodox, Catholic and Evangelical churches along with Bible Society invitees joined us in launching the “Armenian-English New Testament” at Haigazian University.
The ceremony started with a word of welcome from Haigazian’s President, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, and Bible Society’s General Secretary Dr. Mike Bassous.
Rev. Vicken Cholakian then introduced the work done on the New Testament and Miss Ani Baboghlanian presented the book specifications and purpose.
This “Armenian-English New Testament” paves the way to reach the youth and mainly Armenians in diaspora, those who are bilingual and those who belong to a third/fourth generation.
People who have forgotten their mother tongue, the Armenian language will have the opportunity to go through the English text along with the Armenian easy to read text.
The book is light to carry and comes in two colors, burgundy or blue, and has the Khachkar Armenian cross on the front cover.
We wanted this book to benefit the Armenian community in more than one way. This is why we gave this book a deeper purpose: with every purchase, US $1 will be donated to “SHOGH” Community based educational day center in Armenia and Artsakh which cares for children aged 6 to 12 years coming from socially underserved families.
Last but not least, Rev. Megrditch Karagoezian said a closing prayer for the ceremony, trusting that this book will be a great blessing to the Armenian society.
