Gathering of Christian Publishers in Lebanon

Eighteen Christian publishers in Lebanon attended a get-together organized by the Publishing Institute at the Bible Society center in Bauchrieh on the 28th of April 2022.

The Publishing Institute is one of the six centers of excellence at the Bible Society – Lebanon.

The event commenced with a word from Dr. Mike Bassous, the General Secretary and CEO of the Bible Society, where he emphasized the importance of having synergy between various Christian publishers to benefit our communities in the Middle East.

The attendees introduced themselves and the publishers they represented, which created a very open and friendly atmosphere in the gathering. Ms. Ani Baboghlanian, the Publishing Institute director, then commenced the meeting by introducing the purpose and discussion points.

The main focus was on how to build ties together and share expertise as Christian publishing houses in Lebanon, which can help us be stronger individually and as a whole, especially during the financial and political struggles that the country is going through. Most importantly, it would help better achieve our ultimate goals of spreading the Word of God and helping our readers grow in their faith.

The Publishing Institute aims to facilitate joint projects between the many publishing houses, and organize events, training, competitions, and much more. An ecumenical committee was selected from the group to plan, manage, and execute the discussed and suggested goals.

The openness of the attendees in sharing their comments, projects, and ideas was very encouraging. It also confirmed the necessity of putting our hands together to work as a heterogeneous team. We believe this group will have great accomplishments and will be a reason for progressing the standards of Christian publications, in Lebanon and the Middle East, to an entirely new level.

The Bible Society’s vision is to holistically meet the needs of communities through the transforming Word of God. As a Christian inter-confessional, ecumenical, non-profit organization, it works to spread the Holy Bible’s message and culture to all generations through translating, publishing, and distributing the Scriptures using visual, audio-visual, readable, and digital formats, encouraging people to read and engage with God’s Word, advocating the Bible cause to uphold human dignity, and partnering with all Churches and Christian institutions.
