Hike for Bibles

The Bible Society team alongside eighty eight children, youth and adults went for a 10k “Hike for Bibles” in the beautiful mountains of Lebanon, crossing the way from Zaarour to Sannine, on Saturday the 25th of July 2015. The purpose of the hike was to fundraise money to provide bibles for free for those who cannot afford them.

The hike was a great success in all areas; starting from the meeting point in Bible Society center, to the buses, to the hike, then to brunch in the lovely restaurant in Sannine. You could feel the excitement, joy and serenity among all as a result of the beautiful company and the marvelous mountains around us.

At the same time, the hike presented a wonderful opportunity for new people to know about the Bible Society and its work in the Middle East in serving the holistic needs of communities.

Right after the event, one of the participants shared on facebook how the hike made him think of and relate to how Jesus and His disciples used to walk in the fields! He also enjoyed the fellowship and thanked the Bible Society for this great event.

We were so glad with the turnout of people that participated to aid us in this cause and even more so when we hear how many of them enjoyed it and what it mean to them personally.

Last but not least, witnessing the beautiful nature around us as we hiked made us wonder at majesty of our God and sing

“When through the words and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze;
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee; How great Thou art!”
