On June 1, the Bible Society launched its colloquial Lebanese SMS-language Scripture APP on iTunes store. The APP, which is still in it trial phase, provides the four Gospels and the book of Acts in the newly created language of our Arabic-speaking young people that uses Latin alphabets and numeric digits to build quick sentences in chat mode. Aligned from left to right (unlike the Classical Arabic language), this new bible-engaging tool will gain popularity very quickly.
The APP was also launched in Google store for Android users, and work is almost completed for a third version in mobile Windows 8 format. Entitled, “Al Injil Al Moukkadas Bi Loughatikum” (the Gospel in your language), the application includes sharing a verse or paragraph on a variety of social media. The next upgrade will include audio readings of the text in the same format.
