Bishop Aoukar is the representative of the Maronite Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch on the Bible Society Lebanon Board, currently serving as Treasurer and Board Officer after having served for years on the Society’s General Assembly. In 1986, received his university degree in Mathematics, and in 1988 he joined the Antonine Maronite Order as a monk. He received his Bachelor and Masters (DEA) in Theology from the Catholic University of Lyon followed by his Doctorate from the Holy Spirit University – Pontifical Faculty of Theology in 2011.

He is a Professor of New Testament at different universities. He took the position of Dean of the Faculty of Theology at the Antonine University (2001-2005) and the Superior of the Mar Chaaya Convent – Metn (2009-2011) and (2014-2017). He was the national chaplain of Faith and Light Communities (2001-2014) and the Vicar General of the Antonine Maronite Order (2017-2019) before his election as Bishop. He is currently the Patriarchal Vicar of the Maronite Patriarchate, Patriarchal Administrator of the Maronite Archdiocese of Antelias, and an active member of the Catholic Biblical Federation.
