Dr. Dunya was born in Zahle, Lebanon, in 1956. After finishing his education at the Syriac Orthodox School in Mouseitbeh, Beirut, he joined the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 1973 and completed his Medical Doctor degree in 1980. This was followed by Residency training at AUB in Urology and a Fellowship in Pediatric Urology from Wayne State University, USA. For many years, Dr. Dunya was a practicing urologist in several hospitals in Maten and Keserwan areas in Lebanon. In 2008, he was called to be part of the Lebanese American University School of Medicine (LAUSOM) staff. After spending some time at the University of Iowa, USA, he came back, got established and is still coordinating the anatomy discipline in LAUSOM. He is married to Rosette ElKass with four children and six grandchildren, Dr. Dunya is active in many Christian movements, heading for several years the “Beth Tarbito” group in the Syriac Orthodox Church all over Lebanon. He is also a member of the “Renewal in the Holy Spirit” movement and an active member of the Bible Society Board and General Assembly.
