He was born on February 1, 1928, in Beirut. His parents were Selim Edde and Isabelle Malhama.
He completed his elementary and secondary studies at St. Joseph’s School for Jesuit Fathers.
He is married to Yula Elias Doumit and has 5 children and 21 grandchildren.
He holds a law degree from the French Faculty of Law in Beirut.
In 1948, he became a registered lawyer at the Bar Association.
He held several ministerial portfolios from the government of President Rashid Karama in 1966 until 1998 during the governance of President Rafic Hariri.
He heads several church institutions, Christian associations, and civil societies.
He holds several medals of Honor from Lebanon, France, Spain, and Poland.
The Bible Society honored him in 2015 for his national, ecclesiastical and social contributions. He is one of the great supporters of the Society’s march in the service of the Church and the Word of God.
