Bible Society Lebanon hosted an initial trauma healing training on November 23-24-25 for 30 participants. The training presented by Naji Fakhoury and Marie-Helen El Asmar, Master Facilitator in Training, covered the five core lessons of the “Healing the Wounds of Trauma” curriculum.
The group was engaging and had a lot of questions and experiences to share which enriched the training.
The participants reported that the training was beneficial for them personally and they benefited from the new techniques they learned. According to their feedback, they learned how to understand their emotions, how to be good listeners and how to work within a group in a healthy way without giving their own ideas or solutions. They highlighted the importance of understanding oneself before being able to accept and forgive others, the necessity of living the feelings and stages of grief, and the importance of expression, participation, and releasing emotions in order to reach a new beginning after every trauma or grief. Finally, we heard a lot of experiences during the forgiveness lesson which always has a great impact on the participants.
Below are some of their personal sharing:
“I learned a lot from this program, particularly from the participants and their experiences, especially since it started from a Christian perspective and was based on the Bible. I was encouraged to be open to others and participate. Each one of us has a journey, a message, and a cross to carry and complete his path.”
“The respective prayer time of two was a very powerful moment, where I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit, a real consolation and a confidence in the faith that our prayers would be answered.”
“This program helped us understand a person’s journey towards heaven, and that the journey of awareness and work to understand oneself are among the most important things a person can accomplish and then set out to help others.”
“I learned how to express my feelings correctly, to allow the feelings of sadness to be released in order to allow myself to start over.”
“Despite all the wounds that have happened to me throughout my life, I must not let them control me, but place them before my heavenly Father…”
