Displaced Children Support in Beirut – Biel

The Bible Society implemented a humanitarian and educational program in the Biel area of Beirut, targeting displaced children and adolescents from southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs as a result of the war. The program aimed to provide psychological, spiritual, and educational support for children and adolescents living in difficult displacement conditions in tents and temporary shelters.

Approximately 200 displaced participants aged between 7 and 14 took part in the program. The activities combined recreation, education, and spiritual support, in addition to food assistance provided to families.

The program included environmental awareness activities through a simple theatrical performance highlighting the importance of hygiene and environmental care, alongside interactive activities using “magic tricks” designed to engage children and deliver messages in a fun and impactful way. Through these activities, key biblical values and spiritual messages were emphasized, particularly that God always loves them and is present with them in all circumstances.

The children were also taught that prayer is a means of communicating with God, helping them express their feelings and seek comfort and reassurance when facing difficulties. This contributed to strengthening their psychological and spiritual well-being. Interactive activities and biblical stories helped convey a central message: God’s love is constant, and He is present in their lives regardless of circumstances. The program also helped children feel safer and more at peace, strengthened the concept of prayer as a source of psychological and spiritual support, and brought moments of joy into their lives despite the hardships they are experiencing

In addition, the program included the distribution of food parcels to families, children’s kits containing food items and small storybooks designed to promote positive values and hope.
