Honorary ceremony for the Online Catholic Schools competition winners

On Sunday, November 11, 2018, more than 100 students attended an honorary ceremony in Bkerke for winning in the online school competition organized in partnership between the Bible Society and the General Secretariat of Catholic Schools.

His Beatitude Mar Bishara Boutros Al-Ra’i the Chairman of the Council of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops, presented the students their certificates. The students were from the Antonine Sisters School – Roumieh, Ecole Notre Dame de la Paix – Dora and Saint Teresa’s School – Furn El Chebbak.
His Beatitude welcomed the students and expressed his appreciation and support for the competition because it pushes for the enrollment of the Bible into the Christian education curriculum in Catholic schools. He also praised the role of the Bible Society in establishing “Week of the Bible” Lebanon.

The students took part in the service of the Mass through the offering of offerings and the special intentions of the occasion.

At the end of the Mass, the General Secretary of the Bible Society, Dr. Michel Bassous, thanked the Beatitude for honoring the winning students and announced the launching of the competition for the year 2018-2019, which was launched during Week of the Bible 2018 under the theme of “The Youth and the Bible”.

After the Mass, the students took some commemorative photos holding their certificates of appreciation and blessing from His Beatitude. They also received as gifts the books, “Twitter with God” and “Bible for the Young.”

The Bible Society’s vision is to holistically meet the needs of communities through the transforming Word of God. As a Christian inter-confessional, ecumenical, non-profit organization, it works to spread the Holy Bible’s message and culture to all generations through translating, publishing, and distributing the Scriptures using visual, audio-visual, readable, and digital formats, encouraging people to read and engage with God’s Word, advocating the Bible cause to uphold human dignity, and partnering with all Churches and Christian institutions.
