On December 17, 2024, at 6:30 PM, a book titled ” “عمل الله في رحلة الحياة (God’s Work in the Journey of Life) was launched. Its main theme is “”حوارات مع نساء مِن الكتاب المقدَّس (Dialogues with Women from the Bible), written by the inspiring author, Dr. Mary Mikhael. The event was held under the patronage of the Bible Society, the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon, and the Near East School of Theology (NEST).
The book launch took place in the hall of the Near East School of Theology in Beirut.
The event began with a prayer led by Rev. Edgar Traboulsi, followed by welcoming speeches by Dr. Martin Accad, President of the Near East School of Theology; Dr. Mike Bassous, General Secretary of the Bible Society; and Rev. Joseph Kassab, General Secretary of the National Evangelical Synod and President of the Supreme Council of the Evangelical Community in Syria and Lebanon.
Next, Rev. Najla Kassab, President of the World Communion of Reformed Churches, delivered a speech about the book. She expressed her admiration for the author’s style and her unique approach to dialogues not explicitly recorded in the Bible, as well as her rich imagination.
Rev. Souhail Saoud, Pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Beirut, also praised the book’s uniqueness in theme and style and its focus on the centrality of the crucified Jesus.
Finally, Dr. Mary Mikhael thanked the attendees and everyone who contributed to this work, both as a group and as individuals. She emphasized her concerns about the marginalization of women from church service for many generations. She gave examples of the dialogues featured in her book with women from the Bible—pious and courageous women who accomplished heroic feats in human history for the salvation of many. These included Eve, the mother of all living; Jochebed, the mother of Moses; Miriam, the sister of Aaron and Moses; and Mary, the mother of the Lord Jesus.
Thank you, Dr. Mary, for enriching the Christian library, and thank you to Rev. Professor Issa Diab, who contributed to compiling and editing the book and added valuable notes to it.
The event concluded with a loving fellowship reception in celebration of the book launch.
