Online Competition for schools 2022

The Bible Society and the Episcopal Commission for Christian Education concluded the online Bible competition for schools on 9 September 2022 in an audience for the winners with Cardinal Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, the President of the Assembly of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops in Lebanon, followed by a visit to the Cedars Reserve in Bcharre and a lunch gathering.

Dr. Mike Bassous commenced the audience by congratulating the six students on their outstanding achievement of winning over 1100 other participants from 15 schools across Lebanon. He did not neglect to thank and courage their catechism teachers and parents for helping and encouraging them to study the Bible. Last but not least, Dr. Bassous thanked His Beatitude for his patronage, hosting and fatherly support.

Mrs. Maria Badadoni, the representative of the Episcopal Commision for Christian Education highlighted, on behalf of the Chairman of the Commission, Bishop Antoine Bou Najem, and the General Secretary, Father Danny Afram, the advantages of partnering with Bible Society and the importance of teaching the Bible through the use of multimedia and other tools that keep the students engaged.

Patriarch Al-Rahi praised the work of the Bible Society in spreading the word of God through various means. He also stressed the importance of the role parents and teachers play in catechism. He also congratulated the winners and expressed his pride in their success and their passion for the Bible.

After distributing certificates and gifts to the winning students, all participants went to visit the Cedars Reserve in Bcharre and had a friendly gathering over lunch.

The Bible Society’s vision is to holistically meet the needs of communities through the transforming Word of God. As a Christian inter-confessional, ecumenical, non-profit organization, it works to spread the Holy Bible’s message and culture to all generations through translating, publishing, and distributing the Scriptures using visual, audio-visual, readable, and digital formats, encouraging people to read and engage with God’s Word, advocating the Bible cause to uphold human dignity, and partnering with all Churches and Christian institutions.
