Second Academic Study Day on Infertility

The Second Academic Study Day on Infertility and Fertility

With a high ecumenical spirit and a refined human and moral sense, the “Janiin” Association held the second study session on fertility and emerging human life in the New Testament, in partnership with the Higher Institute of Religious Studies at Saint Joseph University – Beirut and the Bible Society, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Bible Society Center in Sid al-Boushrieh.

The conference began with opening speeches by Sister Professor Yara Matta, Director of the Higher Institute of Religious Studies at Saint Joseph University, Dr. Mike Bassous, Secretary General of the Bible Society, and Bishop Jean-Paul Najem, supervisor of the “Janiin” Association for Accompanying Challenged Fertility.

The conference included theological and scientific approaches to biblical texts presented by speakers Rev. Dr. Hikmat Kachouh, Dr. Daniel Ayouch, Abbot Dr. Pierre Najm, and Sister Professor Yara Matta, in addition to the participation of Rev. Dr. Hadi Ghantous, who facilitated one of the sessions.

The invitation was extended to all those interested in the issue of fertility and infertility, whether on a personal level or at scientific and professional levels.

More than 50 people attended the conference, either in person or remotely via Zoom. The conference received positive feedback and interaction from the attendees, who were divided into several groups to discuss biblical texts related to the topic of infertility and fertility, expressing their opinions, interests, and feelings on the subject. Everyone shared a lunch – a fellowship meal – during which participants got to know each other better and grew closer.

Thanks be to God, first and foremost, and to the organizers, speakers, coordinators, and participants, with hopes for more cooperation in the service of human assistance, academic knowledge, and spiritual and social awareness.
