Online Bible Competition Finale 2026
When the Word Would Not Be Silenced
In the middle of crisis, in the middle of war, Lebanon’s children chose the Word of God. For months, while the world watched Lebanon struggle under the weight of economic collapse, displacement, and conflict, 9,300 students from 60 schools across the country opened their Bibles – every week, without fail. They came to learn, to compete, to hold on to something unshakeable.
After months of weekly online Bible quizzes that refused to be stopped by circumstances, nine remarkable finalists rose to the top – representing three levels of Bible knowledge, nine stories of dedication, and one shared faith that no crisis could extinguish. These students, alongside their families and Bible/Catechism teachers, gathered at the General Secretariat of Catholic Schools in Lebanon for a final competition that was so much more than a quiz. It was a declaration: that even here, even now, God’s Word is alive in Lebanon.
The atmosphere in the room defied description. Joy and tears existed side by side. Laughter broke through in unexpected moments. Families who had never met embraced like old friends – bound together by months of shared sacrifices and shared study. These were not students competing for trophies. They were young people who had made a quiet, weekly decision to open Scripture when the world around them was falling apart, and to trust that what they found there was worth holding.
“When everything else is taken away, Scripture remains.”
The day reached its extraordinary height when the finalists, together with their families and teachers, were received in a private audience with His Beatitude Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rai, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch – a moment of grace that none present will ever forget. For students who had spent months studying the word and about a God who draws near to those who seek Him, this meeting carried a meaning that went far beyond ceremony.
This day was a declaration that Lebanon’s children are worth showing up for, that Scripture is alive and active even in the most difficult soil. Nine finalists. Sixty schools. Nine thousand three hundred students. One unshakeable Word. This is what faith in action looks like.
