In lieu of the situation in the country that resulted in tens of thousands of Internally Displaced People (IDPs), Bible Society Lebanon organized several relief initiatives combining practical support with engaging biblical programs for children and youth.
One of those initiatives was held in Ashrafieh, Beirut, at the Jesuit Garden, where 250 parcels were distributed along with Bibles and biblical stories coloring books. Alongside the distribution, children and young people participated in a children’s biblical program, puppet show, and life skills sessions. It was a warm and meaningful gathering offering encouragement during a challenging time.
Many families who had been displaced from the conflict in South Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley were embraced by our team and provided with relief aid, connection, and interactive programs. For the children and youth, the biblical activities created a space not only to learn, but also to express their feelings and discover how God’s word speaks into their lives.
Dany, 13, shared: “Biblical life skills helped me see that God’s word actually speaks to my life. Through the verses and activities, I learned how to say what’s in my heart instead of keeping it all inside.”
Grace, 14, said: “I found out through the Bible that God loves me, and that I’m important to Him. The drama helped me express my feelings and even show my love for Jesus in my own way.”
Fadi, 15, reflected: “The Bible verses we used helped me understand myself and say things I usually don’t say. Acting out the drama made me feel closer to Jesus and more aware of his love for me.”
Tania, 16, added: “Through acting out stories from the Bible, I experienced God’s love and learned to share my own love for Jesus.”
A Bible for Every Generation
While the team was serving the children and families, another unexpected encounter unfolded nearby. A group of elderly people were enjoying the warmth of the sun in the Jesuit Garden. They had spent their lives working and giving, and were now simply sharing a peaceful moment together.
The team offered them Bibles, and what began as a simple gesture became a quiet moment of encouragement and engagement. It brought to mind Jesus’ invitation: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” In the midst of serving one generation, an opportunity opened to reach another; a reminder that God’s word speaks to people at every stage of life.
For Karim, 65, receiving a Bible felt unexpectedly meaningful: “Honestly, when they showed up and gave us the Bible, it didn’t feel random at all. It was like something we hadn’t even realized was missing. A quiet reminder that help sometimes arrives in ordinary clothing.”
Omar, 62, was touched by the simple act of being acknowledged: “When they said thank you, it didn’t just land as words. It felt like they saw us, like the effort mattered and was acknowledged in the best way.”
And for Dunia, 67, the moment carried a deeper significance: “And that blessing? It landed gently, but stayed heavy in a good way. It made the moment feel sacred, like something we’d remember.”
What began as a relief initiative became something broader: a day where practical care created opportunities for encouragement, where children discovered that God’s word speaks into their everyday lives, and where older generations were reminded that they too are seen and valued. Through relief packages, Bibles, creativity, conversation, and prayer, Bible Society Lebanon brought together practical support, the word of God, and human connection offering hope to people of every generation.
